D1: Antananarivo - Antsirabe
Driving South from the capital on the national road Nr 7 (RN7) is a beautiful start to every journey to Madagascar. The road winds itself through hills and valleys, rice fields and villages. The unique malagasy landscape, a mixture of typical asian and african features, will captivate you. On the way you can stop at the city of Ambatolampy, where most of Madagascar's aluminium is recycled by hand.
D2: Antsirabe - Miandrivazo
D3-5: Tsiribihina River Cruise
The next 2 and a half days you will spend on a traditional fisher boat, or on a bigger motor boat, floating down the river Tsiribihina. You will camp at night, see the traditional off-grid life of the fisher- villagers and maybe spot some crocodiles in the water!
At the end of day 3, a 4x4 will pick you up and take you to the village of Bekopaka. |
D10: AntsirabeSpend a whole day in Antsirabe, a vibrant city with lots to see and to do. See how jewellery and cutlery are traditionally made out of zebo horn using all recycled materials, discover how artisanal Bonbons are made, eat in one of the great restaurants and, finally, visit the sacred lake that changes shape depending on what coast you are standing!

D11: Antsirabe - Antananarivo
Leave Antsirabe to drive back to Antananarivo. Spend you last hours strolling on the markets of this crazy city and visit the royal palace with a stunning view of the massive sea of houses.
